Removal
1. remove the radiator shroud, cooling fan and friction disc are secured. Remove all drive belts and the crankshaft pulleys. Remote
upper timing belt covers and gaskets. Note bolt lengths and location.
Caution: do not Rotate counterclockwise (as viewed from the timing crankshaft
belt at the end of the motor). If the timing belt need to be reused, mark the direction
rotation before removal.
2. remove the crankshaft sprocket bolt and washer. Rotate clockwise (as seen from the timing belt crankshaft
the end of the engine) until cylinder No. 1 is at TDC of the compression stroke. Align the timing mark on the camshaft
sprocket with mark on cylinder head. See Figure 5.
3. Loosen timing belt adjustment bolt and move the skewer skewer towards the water pump. Tighten bolt to
secure skewer. Remove the front timing belt and skewer. DO NOT rotate the crankshaft for timing belt has
been removed.
4. remove the camshaft sprocket (if necessary). Remove the oil pump sprocket access plug from the cylinder block.
See Figure 4. Insert a. 31.5? (8.0 mm) diameter Philips screwdriver to block left silent shaft.
5. remove the oil pump sprocket nut and remove the sprocket. Remove the front crankshaft sprocket and flange. Note
the orientation and order of installation for reassembly reference.
6. Remove rear timing belt skewer assembly. Remove rear timing belt. Remove right silent shaft sprocket
with the SPACER (if necessary).
